Special People In Northeast, Inc. warmly welcomed the hard work and enthusiasm of Holy Family University’s students and staff who spent the Martin Luther King Day of Service at SPIN’s Children Services program in the Frankford section of Philadelphia. The children were at home for the MLK holiday so this was a perfect opportunity to do a winter cleaning of the classrooms. SPIN’s CEO, David Losinno and Executive Director, Trina Losinno and Director of Community Affairs, Bernice McHale greeted the eager group of volunteers and shared with them our mission and the importance of working with our community partners to advance the quality of supports and services for people with disabilities.
The volunteers spent their time cleaning toys, washing desks, wiping walls and scrubbing cubbies. The positive result of the Martin Luther King Day at SPIN was that through their effort the classrooms were freshened up, but more importantly our organization got to feel the support of our community.
