SPIN's foundation is its strong belief in people and possibilities. Many years ago, when there were few opportunities for young adults with mental retardation to spend meaningful summer days with friends growing, learning and experiencing life, a group of concerned parents and interested community members got together to discuss the great need for a summer camp. In short time, this group moved from lamenting about what they did not have to wondering what they could do. At this point, a parent stood up and questioned "Why don't we do it ourselves?" And, with that, SPIN was created...
